It's been a while since I've watched any of the Alien movies. It's been too long since I've seen Ripley destroy some alien Queen ass with a power lifter. With the upcoming Prometheus movie, directed by Ridley Scott, taking place in the same universe, I've already had Alien on my mind. Now Gearbox, who you'll remember created the game Borderlands and revived Duke Nukem Forever, is bringing us Aliens: Colonial Marines. They've put out a pre- E3 teaser to get our alien juices flowing, which is gross and awesome at the same time.]]>

I'd been hearing about this trailer for the upcoming game, Dead Island, for about a week, but I didn't take the time to watch it until it was mentioned on The Totally Rad Show yesterday. In a short amount of time this 3 minute, cinematic trailer has caused quite a stir on the internet. There were even some rumors (which have been dispelled) about the rights being sold for a film adaptation with only a trailer out so far. It seems there is some definite interest in taking this story to the big screen, but can the game live up to this much hype?

I don't have to tell you how excited we are for The Walking Dead here at BKT. I am trying to resist posting about every news bit to come from the TWD set, but this one I couldn't resist. I'm usually one to ignore all the fan made intros for movies and television. They're usually amateur attempts that can't live up to the real thing. I know it comes from a place of geeky excitement usually, so I can't fault them for trying. Check out this video after the break and prepare yourself to for some jaw dropping quality.

After I played through the recent Bioshock sequel, I thought I was ready to be done with Bioshock altogether. After an incredible first game and a passable sequel, I couldn't imagine another game in that world. Anything they could have come up with would have only seemed redundant in my mind. Rapture has been explored as much as anyone could have hoped for. Hell, I was fine with them ending the story with the first Bioshock. As of today I have changed my mind, because Bioshock has left the ocean behind for the air. Check out the trailer after the break.

I recently told a friend that I loved Stephen King’s It and that I considered it in the list of my top ten favorite books. Their reply was: so what are your top ten books?
I knew instantly that a question like that had weight to it. I knew that the response could be equally as hefty. I could languish over the question; reasoning with myself why this particular book was worthy of being on the list and why that book wasn’t. Or, I could answer the question in the easiest way possible: rely on my (rather ample) gut; let my heart tell me the books I truly love. I decided to go with the latter. I wrote out a list of candidates (life imitating art?) and from there I let my heart guide my hand.

As if Inception wasn't exciting enough they up the ante by putting out a prologue in comic form, called "The Cobol Job" . They sure know the way to my heart. If you don't know already, Inception is the new movie from director Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Memento), which stars Leonardo Dicaprio, Ellen Page, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The trailers for this movie don't give too much away in terms of plot, other than the fact that the majority of this movie takes place in a dream world. I'm sold on that already. It looks visually creative and downright stunning in some of these early shots. Now the picture is a little bit more clear with the help of this comic. ]]>
The World Cup is in its final throws down in South Africa this weekend and I can already feel the gaping hole it's going to leave in my life. Lucky the MLS schedule is in full swing and transfer season is opening up for the rest of the world. Before the final game on Sunday, I thought I would make a list of a few things I learned from this year's World Cup. It's been a few years since I became a soccer fan, and I think I watched more World Cup this year than in all the prior years combined. Whether you're an old fan, or new to the sport, there are always lessons to be learned from the biggest sports event in the world.]]>
